Getting Started for Tutors

Learn how to set up your tutor profile, configure availability, invite students, conduct live video sessions with AI-assisted tools, and manage your tutoring roster on tutorkamun.

Getting Started for Tutors 👨‍🏫

Welcome to tutorkamun! As an educator on tutorkamun, you have access to powerful teaching tools, interactive whiteboards, automated AI lesson planning, and seamless student roster management.


Creating Your Tutor Profile

  1. Visit app.tutorkamun.com and click Sign Up.
  2. Select Tutor as your account type.
  3. Complete registration and verify your email address.
  4. Go to Profile to set up your public educator bio, qualifications, subjects taught, and hourly rate.

Profile Optimization Checklist

  • Professional Headshot: High-resolution, friendly photo.
  • Detailed Bio: 2–3 paragraphs explaining your background, subject expertise, and teaching methodology.
  • Subject Categorization: Be specific with grade levels and curriculum (e.g., "GCSE Physics", "A-Level Calculus").
  • Hourly & Credit Rates: Set competitive pricing per session credit.

Setting Up Availability & Scheduling

Your availability grid determines when students and parents can schedule sessions with you.

Managing Weekly Availability

  1. Go to Calendar in the sidebar navigation.
  2. Click Manage Availability.
  3. Toggle days of the week on/off and define active teaching hours (e.g., 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
  4. Add buffer times between slots (e.g., 15 minutes) to prepare for your next student.
  5. Save your schedule.

Blocking Time Off

To block specific dates for holidays or personal commitments:

  • Click the target date on your Calendar.
  • Select Block Time, specify the time range, and confirm.

Inviting & Managing Students

Build and maintain your student roster easily:

Option 1: Direct Email Invitation

  1. Navigate to Students -> Invite Student.
  2. Enter the student's email address and select an optional subject tag.
  3. Click Send Invitation.
  4. The student (and parent if applicable) receives a link to complete registration, automatically connecting them to your roster.

Option 2: Connecting Existing Students

Students registered independently on tutorkamun can connect with you directly via connection requests. Accept pending requests from your Dashboard or Student Roster screen.


Scheduling & Credit-Based Sessions

Sessions on tutorkamun utilize a Credit-Based Model.

Creating a Session

  1. Click Create Session from your Dashboard or Calendar.
  2. Select a student from your roster.
  3. Pick an available date and time slot.
  4. Select the session type (Standard Live Session or AI-Assisted Session).
  5. Add a session title and outline.
  6. Click Schedule Session. The student's credit balance will be checked and reserved automatically.
Cancellation Window Policy: Cancellations processed prior to the standard cancellation window refund the credit to the student's balance. Late cancellations follow platform refund rules.

Conducting Live Classroom Sessions

When it's time to teach, enter the live video classroom.

Initiating the Session

  1. Click Start Session on your Calendar or Dashboard.
  2. Complete the camera/microphone check.
  3. When the student joins, your video and audio feeds connect instantly in HD.

In-Session Educator Controls

  • Participant Moderation: Mute student audio or temporarily turn off student video if needed.
  • Background Blur: Toggle background blur for visual privacy.
  • Connection Health Monitoring: Track network status indicators. If internet stutters occur, automatic reconnection keeps the session active.

AI-Assisted Session Tools 🤖

tutorkamun equips tutors with intelligent AI lesson planning tools:

1. Generating AI Lesson Plans

  • Use Generate Session Plan to turn curriculum topic notes or study guides into a structured, multi-step lesson plan.
  • The AI assistant generates clear learning goals, discussion prompts, and quiz questions.

2. Auto-Generating Whiteboard Scenes

  • Click Generate Whiteboard Scene to automatically place visual diagrams, charts, graphs, or problem layouts directly onto the shared whiteboard.

3. Voice & Audio Read-Aloud

  • Leverage automated voice audio prompts to read problem statements or explanations aloud during structured AI-assisted learning modules.

4. Step Navigation

  • Use the Step Controls to guide students through sequential lesson steps at the student's pace.

Assigning Tasks & Creating Session Notes

Creating Tasks (Homework)

  1. Go to Tasks -> Create Task.
  2. Select the student, enter a title and clear instructions, and set a due date.
  3. Click Assign Task.
  4. When the student submits their work, review it under Pending Review and assign a score (0–100%) with feedback comments.

Session Notes & Summaries

At the end of a session, click End Session & Write Notes. Add key discussion points, homework recommendations, and feedback. Notes are instantly accessible to the student and parent.


Tracking Earnings & Payouts

  • Access Billing & Earnings from the sidebar to view completed sessions and accrued credit payouts.
  • View breakdown reports by week, month, or student.
  • Payouts are transferred securely according to your payment settings.
